This classic lentil-based dish originates from the northern parts of India. Although there are variations, the dish is usually prepared with toor dhal (split yellow peas), garlic, ginger, onions, tomatoes, garam masala, red chilli peppers, ghee, cumin, coriander, turmeric, and fenugreek leaves. Once prepared, Tarka Dhal is usually garnished with coriander leaves.
